The BSA Spike (model LG98) is a Light Machinegun manufactured by British Surplus Arms. It is based rather heavily on the Bren gun of WWII. The design began as BSA's production model of the classic Bren, which they continually modified to update it to modern standards. At some point the new design differed enough that it couldn't truely be called a Bren proper, so the designation Spike was used. The LG98A2 is the most commonly used version of the weapon, still retaining the familiar Bren looks with a modern twist.

Though the LG98A1 Bren gun copy still fired the old .303 British round, the Spike was rechambered for the new 8x71 cartridge.
