KCA M1000 VHMG
From Epiverse
The M1000 Very Heavy Machinegun is a .90 calibre machinegun designed by KCA. Firing the .90 CAL round, it is often confused for a light automatic cannon, though the standard round is not explosive, rather a solid metal slug that is designed to puncture all but the thickest of armors. An explosive version was created during the Third War, but it was not used often due to the cost.
One of the unique facets of the M1000 design other than being the only machinegun chambered for the .90 CAL round, is that it can fire without interuption longer than most other machineguns. During a controlled test, the M1000 was able to expend 2000 rounds of .90 CAL ammunition from four 500 round belts linked together. Despite this, the M1000 is issued with a spare barrel. To date, no M1000 operator has had to replace the barrel in combat due to heat. In addition, the M1000 is fitted with a simple digital indicator that can easily be configured to display both the number of rounds cycled since last reset, as well as count down from an input number to tell how many rounds are left on a belt. There is also an analog ticker-counter available as a redundant backup replacement in case the digital counter fails to function. The digital counter can also interface with fire-control systems in tanks that use the M1000 as their coaxial rapid-fire weapon.
The M1000 can and has been put to field use by footsoldiers alone, but only the NWI has actually done so in practice. The VHMG is more often mounted on vehicles and semi-permanent tripods or structural mounts in buildings such as bunkers. The M1000 has seen service with every major player in most conflicts, especially throughout the Third War. The two primary factions that utilize the M1000 are the ADA and the NWI.
